Stardew Valley is a farming simulator, RPG and management game with a retro and pixelated feel and look. The game is also in early access and in development and the developer, Chuggaaconroy, is very open and communicative with the players and community and provides regular updates and is making improvements and adding new features and content with regularity. The game is also multiplayer and you can trade and help each other get better crops and get help with various farming-related tasks.
In this game, you are playing a role of a young person that inherited a farm from your grandfather. This farm is situated near a small town that is surrounded by the forest. This is the place where you will have to live and work. You will have to do all the work on the farm by yourself because this land is pretty big and it will take a lot of time to do everything.
You have to take care of all the details of the farm in order to have a successful harvest. You have to plant crops, farm animals, mine in the caverns in order to get valuable materials. You will have to go to the town to buy goods, sell your goods in the market, complete quests in order to get rewards. You will have to explore the whole map in order to find the best places for your farm.
The graphics are 2D, simple and pixelated, still, they give a warm cozy feeling that makes you want to play the game. There are wonderful hand-drawn backgrounds that are really pleasant to look at. The watercolor style is really pleasing to the eye, it is very relaxing. The game developers also managed to create a simple, yet beautiful menu interface.
Stardew Valley is a sandbox game, so, obviously, it has quite high replayability. Especially such beautifully designed as this one. But it would be naive to say that it is completely open-ended - it has some limitations.
You can't move freely in the game, but there are some places which you can access. You can move from one location to another by clicking on the location. To get inside a building you have to click on the door and wait until the character walks in. Also, the game has great performance because of its low graphic demands.
Stardew Valley is a good game, a lot of players want to play, but there are a lot of bugs, and the gameplay is a little bit monotonous. Therefore, the game is not for everyone, but it can be a nice pastime.
