Hans Zimmer, an acclaimed name in the industry of film scoring, has made a mark with his work on projects like Denis Villeneuve's Dune. Despite his impressive reputation, he doesn’t feel drawn to the Star Wars franchise.
Zimmer spoke about the iconic nature of the series and its original composer. He respects the mastery of John Williams, highlighting the orchestral depth that defines Williams’ compositions. According to Zimmer, this orchestral style isn’t the primary reason for his own musical contributions.
He also acknowledged his contemporary, Ludwig Göransson, noting that while Göransson is exploring innovative approaches, there is a balance to maintain. He questioned how many creative variations can be introduced before the essence of Star Wars begins to wane, suggesting that any personal involvement from him would hinge on his ability to bring a new perspective to the material.
As a result, it’s unlikely that Zimmer will be composing for a Star Wars film in the near future. Nevertheless, he remains active with various other projects, while the music of the Star Wars galaxy persists in flourishing and resonate with audiences.
